About Us

My name is Scott Soden and I am the Owner of Artscapes. I am a licensed landscape contractor, C-27, 732452. Although I am a builder, my true passion is for art, design, plants, animals, and all things natural. I am an artist and designer first.

My work history includes stints as environmental technician and supervisor at a semiconductor manufacturer, to a project manager for an environmental remedial construction company, to managing environmental technicians at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.

I attended College of Marin as well as San Francisco State University majoring in art and environmental sciences. I also took engineering and project management courses from UC Berkeley as well as Sacramento State University.
I supported myself through college by selling my paintings and sculptures at street fairs and juried art shows.

I decided to leave private industry over 15 years ago and pursue what truly interested me: Landscape design and construction.

I get great joy creating landscapes that are well balanced in color, texture, and form that relate with the surrounding environment. I enjoy designing spaces; to see how to create and restore the feeling of balance in a given environment. I also enjoy working in a collaborative
manner with a varied group of people. I guess you could say that I love what I do.

I have a great crew of people working with me, from project foremen to laborer, most of my people have been with me for over 7 years. They too, enjoy what they do, and it shows.
